What’s New at the 66th Genoa International Boat Show
Velettrica is presenting its Drive-Pod-16 – already the winner of the MOST Mobility Challenge (National Centre for Sustainable Mobility) – in a world premiere at the 66th Genoa International Boat Show. It offers an innovative solution designed to make hybrid propulsion more accessible, reliable and versatile.
The Drive-Pod-16 meets an increasingly pressing need among boat owners and industry operators: that of sailing quietly, efficiently and with low emissions.
Following the launch of the innovative Sail-Pod-25 at METS 2023, Velettrica has continued its research and development, resulting in the Drive-Pod-16: a hybrid propulsion system capable of increasing range, safety and manoeuvrability, while reducing fuel consumption, operating costs and environmental impact.
The Drive-Pod-16 has been developed for sailing and motor yachts with a displacement length of between 10 and 14 metres and, thanks to its modular architecture, can also be used act as an auxiliary propulsion system on yachts up to 20 metres, transforming them into hybrid boats capable of manoeuvring in port and undertaking coastal navigation in a fully electric and silent mode.
Velettrica’s Drive-Pod-16 is easy to install. It can be fitted using the mounting points of an existing saildrive or integrated into new boats. The modular battery packs are installed in place of the existing engine.
