Since 1991, the FIV Sailor of the Year – Sailing Stars award recognises the most accomplished Italian sailors who have distinguished themselves on the international stage. Conceived by Acciari Consulting, the event has seen Confindustria Nautica, the Italian Marine Industry Association, officially join the organising committee as of 2022, in partnership with the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV).
The FIV Sailor of the Year award has established itself as the most prestigious and coveted accolade across the sector, to the extent that its ceremony is referred to as the “Oscars” of sailing.
The ceremony also awards the “Boat of the Year” and the “Owner/Helmsman of the Year”.
As part of the event’s collaboration with the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), the Federation’s own FIV awards are also presented to Italian sailors who have excelled in Olympic classes.
All nominated athletes attend the ceremony, which stands out as one of the most eagerly anticipated and well-attended events in the industry. The evening brings together the entire sailing community, from boat owners to sailors, from coaches to journalists, and public figures with a passion for sailing.
