What’s New at the 65th Genoa International Boat Show
With not length but interior volume defining this particular model’s impressive gross tonnage, Sunseeker has even chosen to highlight this figure, along with the embracing features it allows, within the name of the yard’s brand-new Ocean 156 which, boasting a much greater sensation of available space than aboard other yachts of her size category, is destined to leave its mark on the entire sector.
The new Ocean 156, 24.46 metres long and winner in Amsterdam at the most recent edition of the Boat Builder Awards, claiming the “Most Innovative Launch of the Year” category, features an enclosed upper deck and a single helm station, which leaves space on board for multi-purpose applications.
The upper deck, its design inspired by the Portuguese deck style, provides ample space for seating, sunbeds and can also be equipped with an optional Jacuzzi. In the main saloon, which offers a 360-degree view, the flooring is single-level, to allow for greater ease of movement, while large windows open onto the cockpit living area.
In the saloon, an airy staircase leads to the upper deck while the galley can be located either to starboard of the saloon entrance or amidships. In the first case the dining area is opposite the galley, while in the second the dining area is moved beyond the open space where, with a central galley, the owner’s cabin can also be located.
On the lower deck, the full beam owner’s cabin is amidships. Towards the bow there is a double cabin, a twin cabin and then a VIP cabin. The crew quarters are forward of the engine room, along with a technical area. The lower deck also features single-level flooring – a rare choice to be found on a yacht of this size.
Powered by two Volvo D13 IPS 1350s, the Sunseeker Ocean 156 reaches a maximum speed of 23 knots.
