What’s New at the 66th Genoa International Boat Show
YYachts is presenting the New Y7 at the 66th Genoa International Boat Show; shortly after her debut, the new yacht won all three races of the 30th Superyacht Cup Palma Richard Mille. The New Y7, which builds on the success of her predecessor with over 20 units sold, is a design by judel/vrolijk & co.
Measuring 21.99 metres in length (23.80 metres with bowsprit) and 6.10 metres in beam, the New Y7 is constructed from a carbon fibre and epoxy resin sandwich and, weighing 31.5 tonnes, is among the lightest in her class. Furthermore, the new hull ensures an exceptional degree of stability, while sailing performance has been optimised, particularly in moderate winds.
Another distinctive feature, alongside the flush deck, is the asymmetrical cabin entrance, which ensures maximum freedom of movement in the cockpit, complete with a U-shaped sofa to starboard. The arrangement of the winches and halyards allows for easy and safe handling of a sail plan comprising a 180 m² mainsail, a 126 m² self-tacking jib, a 145 m² standard jib, as well as a Code Zero and a gennaker.
The New Y7 marks the continuation of a close collaboration between Francesca Modica, Head of Design at YYachts, and Danish architect David Thulstrup. There are four décor options, while the interior layout – in addition to the large saloon and the galley at mast height – features, in the standard configuration, the owner’s cabin with en-suite bathroom forward and, aft, two cabins with twin berths. Other configurations include an office in the saloon, a VIP cabin aft or two single cabins, also aft.
The New Y7’s auxiliary engine is a 150 hp Yanmar 4LV150 Saildrive.
