What’s New at the 65th Genoa International Boat Show
Created using sustainable construction methods, equipped with thermoplastic sails and designed to provide the joy and comfort of easy sailing, the Grand Soleil Blue represents the new daysailer by Cantiere del Pardo, which will be presented to the world for the first time this year during the 65th Genoa International Boat Show.
The Grand Soleil Blue, designed by Matteo Polli for the naval architecture and by Nauta Design for the exteriors and interiors, marks a pivotal moment in the company’s history due to her technical content and layout, conceived to reclaim sailing’s core meaning of freedom, simplicity and direct contact with the water.
The Grand Soleil Blue (11.30 metres long with a beam of 3.70 metres) is built using rComposite technology from the Italian start-up nlcomp and represents the first 100% recyclable production sailboat to be produced in Italy.
Another aspect inspired by a sustainable vision are the sails (with a mainsail measuring 38 square metres, a jib measuring 26 square metres, a genoa measuring 32 square metres, a Code 0 measuring 60 square metres and a gennaker measuring 100 square metres), which are OneSails’ 4T FORT, made from thermoplastic materials.
In addition, the Grand Soleil Blue is also equipped with a 340 W Solbian photovoltaic system and a 6 kW electric motor with E-Propulsion’s Pod Drive direct drive, which also acts as a hydro-generator and, together with the solar panels on the deckhouse, allows for the lithium battery bank to be recharged on the go.
The spacious and bright interiors are in natural materials and the layout is designed to adapt to different times of the day. In fact, thanks to a modular system of cushions and surfaces, the Grand Soileil Blue’s cabin, complete with a galley and bathroom, can be transformed from the Day configuration, with dinette and table, to the Night mode, featuring four berths.
