What’s New at the 66th Genoa International Boat Show
A cruiser measuring almost 19 metres, embodying performance, elegance and simplicity, the First 60, Beneteau’s new flagship, designed for those who love intensity, precision at the helm and the satisfaction of fine-tuning every detail.
To create the First 60, Beneteau chose two Italian designers: Roberto Biscontini and his firm Biscontini Yacht Design for the naval architecture, and Lorenzo Argento, who is responsible for the exterior and interior design.
18.95 metres long, with a bowsprit, and a maximum beam of 5.30 metres, the First 60 features, among other stand-out elements, a cockpit with ample space between the helm stations and the seating at the cabin entrance, as well as the use of a captive winch and a Park Avenue boom for the mainsail, which facilitates sail handling and allows the yacht to be sailed even with a small crew.
The total sail area of the First 60 is 105 square metres in the standard version. With an oversized carbon mast, the mainsail reaches approximately 100 square metres, with a jib of 85 square metres and a gennaker of 300 square metres.
Inside the cabin, the saloon is light and airy; designed with meticulous attention to detail, it is organised into a dining area, a chartroom and a sofa with a table. Towards the bow, the large C-shaped galley precedes the owner’s cabin. Two double cabins are located aft. Each cabin has its own en-suite bathroom. The auxiliary engine is a 150 hp unit.
