What’s New at the 66th Genoa International Boat Show
With seven units already sold by the time the first unit was launched last July, the Azimut Grande 44M – measuring 43.60 metres in length and 8.65 metres in width – is the shipyard’s new flagship. The Grande 44M’s exterior design is by Alberto Mancini, while the interiors are by the m²atelier studio.
The construction of the Grande 44M embodies the latest in cutting-edge technology, with carbon fibre accounting for over 50% of the yacht’s structure. This has made it possible to reduce the weight of the superstructure by 8 tonnes. The naval engineering is also noteworthy, featuring the Dual Mode hull, designed by the Azimut|Benetti Group’s R&D department in collaboration with P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture, which combines a fast displacement section at the bow with a semi-planing section at the stern.
Two stand-out features set the Grande 44M apart, which offers guests 5-6 cabins: at the stern, the Mezzanine Deck with its Sea View Terrace – a feature borrowed from another Azimut, the 38-metre Grande Tridek – and a swimming pool with a transparent floor overlooking the beach club below.
Of particular note is the Mild Hybrid propulsion system, developed by the Azimut|Benetti Group in collaboration with Asea Nautica and based on two 50 kW electric motors and a 188 kWh battery pack (expandable to 230 kWh and rechargeable in two hours while cruising at 15 knots). The system allows the Grande 44M to remain at anchor with the generators switched off for 3-4 hours during the day and 8-10 hours at night while the onboard amenities are in use.
