With Seven units already having been sold to end customers and the first unit launched yesterday, Wednesday 8 July, in Viareggio, the new Grande 44M is Azimut’s new flagship, a development that serves to reaffirm the success of a strategy that, over the years, has enabled the shipyard led by Giovanna Vitelli to establish itself as a market leader in the superyacht segment as well.
Designed by Alberto Mancini, 50% of the Grande 44M is constructed using carbon fibre, an achievement that was made possible by strategic investments provided by the Azimut|Benetti Group, particularly in the new Composite Centre in Massa. This technology has enabled the introduction of an unprecedented four-deck layout, with the Upper Deck free of any technical spaces and transformed into an entire deck dedicated to the owner, complete with the inclusion of private terraces.
Among the most stand-out features of the new Grande 44M are the Mezzanine Deck with its scenic Sea View Terrace, an element that in part defined the success of the Grande Trideck, and the See-Through Pool with its transparent walls; the forward section of the Upper Deck and its veranda dining area; and, more generally, the markedly innovative layout, which stems from the intuitions of architectural firm m²atelier, who translated the design into a manifesto of “intentional living”.
There are also many technical highlights that make this new model a monumental step forward. In addition to the construction making extensive use of carbon fibre, the use of Hull Vane foil technology, an innovation developed in collaboration with the company of the same name, comprising a carbon fibre wing (weighing a minimal 400 kg compared to 1,500 kg if made of steel) installed at the stern, which significantly reduces hydrodynamic drag, pitch and roll, thereby ensuring a superior level of comfort on board.
.
Other significant technical features of Azimut’s Grande 44M include the Dual Mode hull designed by the Azimut|Benetti Group’s R&D department in partnership with P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture, the 30 square metres of solar panels that power the onboard hospitality facilities, and the Mild Hybrid propulsion system developed by the Group in collaboration with Asea Nautica, which allows the yacht to remain at anchor with the generators switched off and in complete silence for 3 to 4 hours during the day and 8 to 10 hours at night.
