The first steel-hulled vessel and the first in the new Custom line make for a double premiere for Even Further by Amer Yachts, which, with its new 42-metre yacht, marks a turning point in the world of Explorers. Measuring 41.45 metres in length with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure (displacement is 440 tonnes), Even Further is fitted with the Volvo Penta Professional Platform system, featuring two IPS40 drives and four D13 engines compliant with IMO Tier III standards, with twin counter-rotating propellers: a solution that delivers up to 30% in fuel savings compared to traditional inboard installations.
It is thanks to this solution that, during her initial trials, Even Further achieved a record fuel consumption of just 60 litres of diesel per hour in Eco Mode at 9.5 knots, which involves the use of two of the engines connected to the transmissions.
“This exceptional result,” emphasised Barbara Amerio, CEO of Amer Yachts S.p.A., “is the result of a long and painstaking quest to improve performance and reduce fuel consumption and emissions. We set out in the late 1980s and, long before it was fashionable to do so, chose a path that today is repaying us for the great sacrifices and the initial scepticism we encountered. This is an advantage we can offer our clients and to charter vessels, which are so sensitive to high fuel prices.”
Even Further was designed by Luiz De Basto, while the naval engineering is by Optima Design Italy. Among the most distinctive features of this Ice Class yacht, which can carry up to 19 passengers including guests and crew and has a range of 8,900 miles (Even Further could reach Australia without refuelling, setting off from the shipyard in Sanremo), are the large open areas at the stern, the 17-metre-long flybridge (over 40& of the vessel’s length in feet) and the interiors with their bright, contemporary colour scheme, which give the vessel the appearance of a traditional superyacht.
