A cruiser with a sporty spirit: the Pogo 44 by Pogo Structures

What’s New at the 66th Genoa International Boat Show

Designed for fast, dynamic cruising, the Pogo 44 from the Breton shipyard Pogo Structures – which specialises in racing yachts, from Class 40s to the smaller Mini 6.50s – is making her debut at the 66th Genoa International Boat Show.

The Pogo 44 follows in the shipyard’s tradition: a Finot-Conq design measuring 13.55 metres in length with a maximum beam of 4.50 metres. Alongside the lifting keel (maximum draught of 3.10 metres), another distinctive feature of the Pogo 44 (borrowed from the Class 40s) is the design of the deckhouse, which is penned to be noticeably wide from the cockpit to the stern of the mast before tapering off to ensure ample headroom and volume within the interior.

The hull shape – decidedly flat with a sharp edge at the waterline – and the downwind sail area of 228 square metres suggest that the Pogo 44 thrives on downwind sailing, where it unleashes her full power, thanks in part to a displacement of just 5.9 tonnes.

There are two possible interior layouts: with two or three double cabins and, in the centre, a large living area housing the galley, dinette and bathroom. The auxiliary engine is a 50 hp Saildrive.
